The Tohe ritual

On the frontier between Venezuela and Brasil a small community of Pume Indians sing regularly for the gods to descent during a nightly ritual called the tohe.The old gods such as the Jaguar often no longer come but new gods such as the telephone, the skyscraper, the lawyer are new divine presences.
